The Incident in the Kitchen was a event in which The Cook tried to test his strength by seeing how long he could stand lighting his own hand on fire. He lasted a good five seconds before his whole hand caught on fire and he received major injuries to his hand, meaning that he could no longer cook any food in the kitchen. This incident would be brought up by The Commander in Christmas at Base 327 2.
